1. The problem of heavy schoolwork burden of primary and secondary school students has attracted great attention of leaders at all levels. In order to effectively solve this problem, the Ministry of Education will issue a document asking schools to effectively reduce the schoolwork burden of primary and secondary school students, especially the schoolwork burden of primary school students, and will make some hard and fast rules.
2. The reform of college entrance examination in China is progressing steadily. In 2000, the Ministry of Education plans to carry out 3+X pilot projects in some provinces (cities) such as Jiangsu and Shanghai on the basis of 3+X pilot projects in Guangdong Province. The proposal of "re-examination" is still inconclusive.

According to the spirit of the whole church and the Action Plan for Revitalizing Education in China Facing the 2 1 Century, the Ministry of Education decided to launch the "Continuing Education Project for Primary and Secondary School Teachers" nationwide. The continuing education project will focus on improving teachers' ability and level of implementing quality education, face all teachers, highlight the backbone, comprehensively promote the continuing education of primary and secondary school teachers and create a new situation of continuing education. The Project Plan of Continuing Education for Primary and Secondary School Teachers was collected from the delegates at the National Conference on Continuing Education for Primary and Secondary School Teachers and Training for Principals held in Shanghai in August this year.

In order to improve the overall quality of primary and secondary school principals, meet the needs of comprehensively promoting quality education and promoting the reform and development of basic education, the Ministry of Education will issue the Training Regulations for Primary and Secondary School Principals and the Qualification and Post Specification for Primary and Secondary School Principals. The drafts of these two documents were submitted to the delegates for discussion at the relevant meeting held in Shanghai in August this year.
Recently, on the basis of summarizing the practical experience of educational supervision and evaluation, the Ministry of Education has formulated the Opinions on Strengthening Educational Supervision and Evaluation. The importance of this document to further strengthen education supervision and evaluation. This paper puts forward some guiding opinions on the nature of educational supervision and evaluation, the responsibilities of supervision, the construction of educational supervision and evaluation system, and why we should strengthen and improve the leadership of supervision and evaluation and give full play to the role of supervision.
