Brief introduction of Korea Foreign Studies University
HUFS (its English name is Hank UK University of Foreign Studies) is a university that mainly teaches foreign languages and culture. Waida has two campuses, located in Dongdaemun District of Seoul and Longren City of Gyeonggi Province. Korea Foreign Studies University was founded on April 20th, 1954, when it was the only institution of higher learning in Korea that taught foreign languages. At the beginning, there were five departments, namely Chinese Department, English Department, French Department, German Department and Russian Department. So far, Korea Foreign Studies University has been regarded as one of the most important universities in the fields of humanities, social sciences and foreign language teaching and higher education. It is the center of foreign language education in Korea and the only university in Korea that offers 26 foreign languages, including German, Latin, Slavic, Asian, African and Middle Eastern. It maintains cooperation agreements in education and research with more than 90 universities around the world. The school's characteristic colleges are Translation College and Foreign Language Training and Evaluation Center. The only translation institute in Asia aims to educate and train students to become professional translators. FLTTC provides language training for civil servants and businessmen. Korea Foreign Studies University also has a Korean Education College, which specializes in Korean foreign language teaching at the university level.
