The school was formerly a quick school for demobilized military cadres' culture, which was founded in 1952. 1956 set up a training course for middle school teachers in Jiangsu province. 1957, Jiangsu Normal University was established. 1958 moved north to Xuzhou, 1959 merged with Xuzhou Normal University to form Xuzhou Normal University.
