More than 20 primary schools in Ningbo have set up weekly no-homework days to reduce the burden on students.

One day a week is "no homework day". Recently, the Education Bureau of Haishu District, Ningbo issued the Notice on Further Strengthening and Optimizing Homework Management in Primary and Secondary Schools, encouraging primary schools to set up a "no homework day" to effectively reduce students' excessive academic burden.

The notice stipulates that schools should strictly control the total amount of homework and homework time every day. There is no written homework in the first and second grades of primary school, and the total time for completing written homework in other grades every day does not exceed 1 hour; Junior high school students should control their homework time within two hours every day. Don't increase the workload on weekends and holidays. At the same time, schools should reduce the time for students to do homework, and primary schools should set up "no homework day every week".

"We encourage schools to set up homework-free days according to the actual situation to ensure that there is no homework one day a week, so that students can learn to manage themselves." Qiu, director of the Haishu District Education Bureau, said.

At present, more than 20 schools, including Haishu Foreign Language School, have set up "no homework day" one after another, and most schools set this day as Wednesday.

It has been two weeks since the implementation of "No Homework Day" in Ningbo Experimental Primary School, and children have gradually fallen in love with "Happy Wednesday". Judging from the effect of the school's "no homework day photo collection" activity, some students use this day to help their mothers mop the floor, some practice skateboarding, and some study tea ceremony at home, so their after-school life is very rich.

Lu, a student of the school, said: "I am a sixth-grade graduating class student, and I am usually nervous about my studies." I am glad to have a' no homework day' in this school. Mom and teacher really gave us this day back. I can read extra-curricular books, exercise, plant small potted plants and do what I like. "

In order to prevent the "no homework day" from being wasted, primary schools in Haishu District have staged coups.

A few days ago, Sun Wenying Primary School in Haishu held the launching ceremony of "Have a meaningful and happy' no homework day'", telling children that having no written homework does not mean that they can enjoy themselves. At the same time, they gave students five suggestions, including adding books, exercising and doing housework.

The week before the "No Homework Day on Wednesday" activity, Haishu Zhongyuan Primary School sent a notice to parents, suggesting that parents can arrange some contents that are beneficial to their children: an intimate reading time, a beneficial game or fitness activity, some housework that they can do, a meaningful interest cultivation, a family exchange of spiritual exchanges, and a learning process of independent exploration.

Teacher Yu Ting from Fan Guifu Primary School in Haishu said: "No homework day is an educational concept, which gives students more diverse living and learning space, with the aim of relaxing their mood, choosing meaningful activities independently, increasing their knowledge and enhancing family cohesion.
