Kunming University of Science and Technology, located in Kunming, Yunnan Province, is a key university jointly established by the Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and Yunnan Province.
It has been selected into the national "11/plan", the Ministry of Education's "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan", the Central and Western Universities' Basic Capacity Building Project, the national "Characteristic Key Discipline Project" to build universities, the national new engineering research and practice project, the national postgraduate project to build high-level universities, and the China government scholarship bridge to designate institutions to receive international students in China.
Deepen innovation and entrepreneurship education reform model universities, national innovation and entrepreneurship education practice base, university scientific and technological achievements transformation and technology transfer base, Data China "Hundred Schools Project", national innovation talent training demonstration base, and member units of CDIO Engineering Education Alliance.
The school was formed by the merger of Kunming University of Science and Technology and Yunnan University of Technology on 1999. Kunming University of Science and Technology was founded in 1954 and renamed Kunming University of Science and Technology in 1995. Yunnan University of Technology was founded in 1974, formerly known as Yunnan Institute of Technology.
1994 was renamed Yunnan university of technology, and the historical starting point can be traced back to the second year of Xuantong in Qing dynasty (19 10). 1999, the two universities merged to form the new Kunming University of Science and Technology. In 2004, Yunnan Analysis and Testing Center merged.
As of May 2023, the school has four campuses, namely Chenggong, Lianhua, Xinying and Songming, covering an area of 39 15 mu (excluding Songming campus); There are 1 department, 27 colleges and 7 research institutes, offering 107 undergraduate majors; Postdoctoral research stations 1 1, first-class doctoral programs 17, and professional degree doctoral programs 3.
There are 44 master's programs in first-class disciplines and 22 master's programs in professional degrees; There are 4,089 faculty members, including 2,876 full-time teachers and 5 19 18 registered students (including 67/kloc-0 international students), including 33,886 undergraduates (including 254 international students) and graduate students 18032 (including 46 international students)
