The original system of education and scientific research came into being in the Han Dynasty, when the rulers tried to break the clan's monopoly on officialdom, weaken their grasp of state affairs, and then harm the interests of the rulers and society.
Then it developed into the later imperial examination talent selection system, and even solidified into an eight-part essay in the Ming Dynasty, forming a unified system.
Although the selection of talents mainly served the rulers, it also played a positive role in the prosperity and stability of ancient feudal society and contributed to the continuation of Chinese civilization.
