The campus is located on the north side of Xingye Avenue in Fan Wei District. Construction started in 20 12, and the first batch of projects were completed and put into use in 20 14. It is one of the campuses of Jinan University, which is a national "double-class" and a national "2 1 1 project" construction university.

The school's predecessor was Jinan School, which was founded by the Qing government in Nanjing on 1906. Later, it moved to Shanghai, and 1927 was renamed as National Jinan University.

During his stay in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, he moved to Jianyang. 1946 moved back to Shanghai, 1949 merged with Fudan University, Jiaotong University and other universities. After the founding of New China, it was rebuilt in Guangzhou on 1958. Suspended during the Cultural Revolution, 1978 reopened in Guangzhou.

As of March 2023, the school has five campuses in Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Zhuhai, with a total campus area of 2268 1 1,000 square meters and a school building area of 1 1,788,400 square meters.
