On the Differences between Chinese and Western Education —— My Opinion on Chinese and Western Family Education
Abstract: In recent years, with the popularization of quality education, family education has become a hot spot in today's society, which is the vital interest and urgent need of hundreds of millions of families. Because good family education is directly related to children's quality and conduct, and also related to the future of the motherland. It is an important part of the strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education and sustainable development. As far as China is concerned, the development trend of family education is good, a large number of parents and schools have created successful experiences, and many parents of students have taken the initiative to learn family education knowledge, and their educational concepts have undergone profound changes. However, family education is still a weak link, especially with the introduction of western educational concepts, parents in China have shown helplessness in the face of traditional and modern family education concepts. Therefore, family education is both an opportunity and a challenge. Moreover, Chinese and western family education has its own advantages and disadvantages, and in different aspects, the educational methods are also different. Therefore, we need to deeply understand the differences between Chinese and western family education, learn from each other's strong points, and seize the opportunity to promote the modernization of family education, so that China will have immeasurable development prospects in the future.

Since ancient times, family education has played an important role in the education of the whole country. Deng Xiaoping once said; ? The foundation of national modernization lies in talents, talents in education and education in family. China is a country that attaches importance to family education. China's profound educational and cultural traditions contain excellent family education elements. ? Family education, school education and social education are the three pillars of education and are indispensable.
With the introduction of western education thoughts, parents in China have shown helplessness in the face of traditional and modern family education thoughts. Therefore, it is necessary for us to compare Chinese and western traditional family education from all aspects.
Family education is an educational practice of human beings. Chinese and western family education still have a lot in common. It can be summarized as five points.
1, pay attention to family education.
2. Family education should be started from an early age and taught in time.
3. Parents have different roles in education. Father is the main undertaker of children's intellectual education, and mother is the main undertaker of children's emotional training.
4. Pay attention to cultivate children's habit of loving knowledge and reading.

Nevertheless, due to the geographical and cultural differences between China and the West, the traditional family education in China and the West shows their own characteristics in more aspects. This probably involves ten aspects.
1, different educational tendencies.
China's parents attach great importance to the education of social adaptability. They often cultivate their children according to the established model and add various behaviors to them. Western parents pay more attention to providing their children with an antagonistic growth environment, and constantly adjust and choose their own training concepts and methods according to social changes and children's physical and mental characteristics.
2. Different family education values.
Does China emphasize the role of family education? Cultivate one's morality, keep one's family in order, govern the country and level the world? . In this isomorphic thinking orientation, family education is endowed with direct social significance. Western family education believes that the purpose of education is not to prepare for a living, but to prepare for survival. What do they emphasize? Boya education? It is a value that shapes the mind, a value that has nothing to do with utility.
3. The concept of family subject is different from that of education.
The traditional family culture in China follows the pattern of domination, showing the authority within the family, emphasizing obedience and respect, and attaching importance to external control. Western civilization takes children as the main body and emphasizes individual struggle, equality, democracy and respect for individual rights.
4. The emphasis of education is different.
China's traditional culture holds life and morality, and attaches great importance to life and interpersonal relationship, so China's parents have always regarded morality as the highest value orientation of education. Western culture grasps knowledge, and families mainly stimulate children's curiosity and imagination about nature.
5. Family orientation and individual orientation.
China's traditional culture is family-oriented and pays attention to individual responsibilities and obligations. Western culture takes the individual as the standard and pays attention to individual freedom and rights. In education, it is manifested in putting the educated in a prominent position and attaching importance to the cultivation of personality.
6, the cultivation of independent consciousness
The educational value of parents in China is to study for further study, and children's awareness of all-round development is indifferent, which makes children have no chance to develop and improve their various qualities. Western parents pay attention to cultivating children's independent consciousness from an early age, so that children's independent personality can make children pay more attention to personal ability and struggle when they go to society.
7. Emotional education and corporal punishment
An important feature of family education different from school education is the education of love. China families are not good at expressing love and emotional education is weak. In western families, encouraging words are often used to express parents' gratitude to their children. Western parents pay more attention to personal qualities and emotional communication, while families mainly pay attention to the construction and cultivation of emotions.
8. Different educational methods
The traditional way of education in China is indoctrination and children learn. Does the west pay more attention to children? Enlightenment? . They like to let children practice hard, go to nature and seek knowledge in life. They encourage children to go to libraries and museums to read books they are interested in and take part in social practice.
9. Financial education
China people are gentlemanly and indifferent to fame and fortune. ? A gentleman is figurative, and a villain is figurative. China's parents have no idea about financial education. In the west, especially in America, financial management education is a branch of family education. Parents regularly send fixed funds to their children to help them establish correct financial awareness and develop good financial habits, and at the same time pay attention to the cultivation of the basic quality of money.
10, religious thought and science education
Although China culture also started from religion, we put more emphasis on science in education. The Compulsory Education Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) clearly stipulates that education should be separated from religion. The western religious tradition still retains great power until modern times and even modern times, and permeates all aspects of educational activities.
To sum up, we can see that Chinese and western family education traditions have their own advantages and are rooted in their own traditional cultural soil.

As the top priority of family education, we should make use of the advantages of family education to carry out personalized education, develop children's personality and cultivate all kinds of useful talents for the country. Adopt scientific methods of encouragement, guidance and tolerance, educate patiently, and constantly improve children's self-esteem, self-confidence and self-motivation;
4. Keep up with the development of knowledge economy and information age, further broaden the thinking of family education, enhance the awareness of openness, improve the adaptability of family education, promote the organic combination of intellectual factors and non-intellectual factors education, and educate children to learn to learn and learn to seek knowledge.
In a word, family education in China is very different from that in the West, and each has its own advantages and disadvantages. We should get rid of its dross and take its essence.
