It mainly shows the historical exhibitions of about 600 years in the Tang and Song Dynasties in Yunnan, basically divided in chronological order, respectively explaining the background of Nanzhao's appearance, its establishment, major events in Nanzhao's history, a brief history of Dali, and social production, architectural costumes and customs in this period. Finally, it highlights the scene centered on Five Dhyani Buddhas as a conclusion. On the basis of historical records, this exhibition will carefully select its main points, so that the audience can have a basic understanding of the history of Nanzhao and Dali, and give full play to the functions of museum history education, ninth grade and patriotism education.

The development, blending, development and evolution of various ethnic groups is an important historical period for the formation of multi-ethnic groups in Yunnan. Yunnan Province-Yunnan in the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties combs the information about the origin of various ethnic groups in the literature, presents the true cultural features of various ethnic groups in Yunnan in the historical process, and explains the historical situation that Chinese culture entered Yunnan and merged with various ethnic groups from the perspective of historical culture through cultural relics display and scene reproduction.

According to the order of a hundred years' history, the exhibition is divided into six themes: internal troubles and foreign invasion, fighting the sky with a sword, starting a prairie fire and sparking, shooting water from Jinsha, bonfire in Yunnan and dawn. According to the theme, the exhibition hall space interprets the three atmospheres of twilight ancient city, gloomy battlefield and dawn. At first, the exhibition hall space was cut by zigzag roads and zigzag walls, which gave the audience a sense of tense and depressed space, and finally, the open and bright exit gave the audience a sense of relief and deepened the audience's visit impression.
