Secondary vocational education is a vocational education carried out in the stage of high school education, aiming at cultivating hundreds of millions of skilled talents and high-quality workers on the basis of nine-year compulsory education. Secondary vocational education is the main body of vocational education in China at present, which is mainly implemented by secondary vocational schools. The enrollment targets are mainly junior high school graduates and people with junior high school equivalent education. The basic academic system is mainly three years.

There are four types of secondary vocational schools:
1, technical secondary school (hereinafter referred to as "technical secondary school"). This kind of school mainly recruits junior and senior high school graduates, with a schooling of two or three years. 3. Vocational high schools (hereinafter referred to as "vocational high schools"). This kind of school is developed on the basis of educational structure reform, and most of them are converted from ordinary middle schools. Generally, junior high school graduates enter school for three years, and some have two or four years. The training goal is similar to that of technical secondary schools and technical schools, focusing on the front-line operators in production and service.
4 adult secondary specialized schools (hereinafter referred to as "adult secondary specialized schools"). This kind of school was developed after China's reform and opening up. The earliest orientation was to train adults with junior high school education (mainly on-the-job personnel) into secondary technical personnel. Due to the change of the situation, its enrollment target has been mainly junior high school graduates, with a schooling of two or three years.
The difference between secondary vocational schools and ordinary high schools;
Secondary vocational schools and ordinary high schools are two major components of high school education, which belong to the same degree and are two types of education. Professors who focus on basic knowledge in ordinary high schools usually take the college entrance examination after graduation to prepare for entering the university. Secondary vocational schools combine students' hobbies and career tendencies, learn skills early, and can pursue further studies, find jobs, start businesses and study abroad after graduation.
It is free for secondary vocational schools to enjoy national policies, while ordinary high schools, especially private ordinary high schools, charge fees.
