The school is located in Quanzhou, the first historical and cultural city in China and a famous hometown of overseas Chinese. The school, formerly known as Quanzhou University Teachers College, was founded in 1958. 1998 Quanzhou Teachers College, Quanzhou Education College and Quanzhou Teachers College merged to form a new Quanzhou Teachers College.
