1947 the 9th meeting of the 6th the National People's Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC) agreed to the State Council's proposal to establish teacher's day, and the meeting decided to designate September 10 as teacher's day every year. 1947 September 10 is the first Teachers' Day in China, so this year is the 36th Teachers' Day.

China's first set of "Teacher's Day" stamps was issued on August 27th, 1947. There are four stamps in this set, and the design contents are the statue of Confucius, the apricot altar where Confucius gave lectures, the tomb of Confucius and the Dacheng Hall of Confucius.
