Chongqing Vocational College of Electronic Engineering, founded in 1965, is a full-time ordinary institution of higher learning sponsored by Chongqing Municipal People's Government and jointly established by Chongqing Education Commission and Chongqing Economic and Information Commission.
It has been selected into the national demonstrative higher vocational colleges, the Modern Apprenticeship Experimental College of the Ministry of Education, the national high-quality higher vocational colleges, and the "Double High Plan" (B file) high-level school construction unit. It is the governing unit of China Higher Education Association, the vice-president unit of China Higher Vocational and Technical Education Research Association and the vice-president unit of Chongqing Higher Education Association. It is a university with typical graduate employment experience in China.
Chongqing Vocational College of Electronic Engineering was formed by the merger of Chongqing Vocational and Technical College and Chongqing Vocational College of Electronic Technology in 2005. Chongqing Vocational and Technical College, formerly known as South Sichuan Industrial Management School, was founded in 1965.
Chongqing Electronic Technology Vocational College, formerly known as Chongqing Radio Technician College, was founded in 1977 and 1999 and upgraded to the first independent higher vocational college in Chongqing.
20 19 and 10 were selected as high-level vocational schools with China characteristics and professional construction planning units (category II) in June. In July 2020, the school was approved to jointly train two-year undergraduate students majoring in computer science and technology, electronic information science and technology and communication engineering with Yangtze Normal University.

The school is a demonstration school of "Sino-German Vocational Education Automobile Electromechanical Cooperation SGAV Project" by the Ministry of Education.
