I communicate with many parents almost every day, and I also take it as my mission to teach children how to fight back setbacks. When I was in graduate school, my teacher taught us that people are either born with magical power to recover from setbacks or not. Here are my suggestions. Parents can cultivate their children's courage and resilience through teaching.

1. Tell your child that disappointment is acceptable. You should not only have expectations for your children, but also learn to deal with all kinds of disappointments in life. Disappointment and frustration are not entirely negative thoughts, and we can learn something from them.

2. Remind children that failure is normal. At the turning point of life, we have all experienced failures, and these failures have taught us to become more humble and compassionate, and also taught us how to deal with future problems. In other words, failure can also provide opportunities for learning.

Remind your children how important it is to have a personal support system, and who is willing to help them at any time when they are happy or sad. It's like being in a fan club. We all do well, right?

4. Ask children to keep lively nature, and parents should demonstrate by themselves. Generally speaking, parents always educate their children with a straight face, which will aggravate their anxiety. Let the children keep a little naughty personality. After all, everyone needs some relaxing moments.

Let your children get rid of the pressure and take them on a short trip. For example, if children feel that homework is too stressful, it is better to take them out for a walk and let them have a rest.

6. Become a model of healthy diet, sleep and exercise. Only when you are healthy can you participate in work and life well.

7. Tell your children that they can have a bad mood within 24 hours before taking action to deal with difficulties. They may not feel so depressed after that day. I like this 24-hour rule very much, because not every emotion needs your immediate response.

8. Teach your children that asking for help from others is not only acceptable, but also very positive, and it is not shameful to ask for help from others. Everyone needs help from others, and we can also benefit from helping each other.
