In 2000, Wuhan University merged with Wuhan University of Water Resources and Electric Power, Wuhan Technical University of Surveying and Mapping and Hubei Medical University to form the new Wuhan University.

3. Introduction of Huazhong Agricultural University:

Located at the foot of Lion Mountain in Nanhu Lake, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, it is the first batch of world-class discipline construction universities in China. The national "2 1 1 project" and "985 engineering advantage discipline innovation platform" are the key construction universities. The origin of Huazhong Agricultural University can be traced back to 1898. Zhang Zhidong, governor of Huguang, founded Hubei Agricultural School at the invitation of the Qing government, and changed its name to Hubei Agricultural School in 1985. In 2000, it was placed under the direct leadership of the Ministry of Education from the Ministry of Agriculture.
