Discipline Construction of the School of Philosophy of China Renmin University
The Ministry of Education recently announced the list of national key disciplines, and eight first-class disciplines of Renmin University of China and eight national key disciplines of two disciplines were approved. The Notice of the Ministry of Education on Publishing the List of National Key Disciplines (Teaching and Research Letter [2007] No.4) points out that in accordance with the spirit of the Opinions of the Ministry of Education on Strengthening the Construction of National Key Disciplines (Teaching and Research [2006] No.2) and the requirements of the Interim Measures for the Construction and Management of National Key Disciplines, the audit is carried out through three stages: evaluation, supplement and first-level discipline identification, and on the basis of peer expert review and first-level discipline identification. The eight national key two disciplines are (excluding the national key two disciplines under the national key first-class discipline): the history of the Communist Party of China, international politics, literature and art, ancient history of China, modern history of China, agricultural economic management, administrative management and archival science.

China Renmin University has 25 national key two disciplines, all of which were approved in the first phase of national key discipline evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Education from February 2006 to April 2007. In the second phase of the supplementary work of national key two disciplines carried out by the Ministry of Education, eight two disciplines of Renmin University, such as religion, legal theory, international politics, ideological and political education, communication, modern history of China, agricultural economic management and administrative management, passed strict peer expert evaluation and were finally approved as national key two disciplines by the Ministry of Education. So far, the school has 33 national key two disciplines. On the basis of the second stage of work, the Ministry of Education carried out the first national key first-level discipline identification work. According to the rules formulated by the Ministry of Education, eight first-level disciplines of Renmin University were selected.

National key disciplines are important bases for cultivating innovative talents and carrying out scientific research, which are selected and built by the state according to the development strategy and major needs, and occupy the backbone and leading position in the discipline system of higher education. The selection of key disciplines this time is the inevitable result of Renmin University's long-term emphasis on discipline construction, and it is one of the important achievements of the school since the new century.

Since the new century, under the personal leadership of President Ji Baocheng, according to the actual situation of the school and the development trend of related disciplines at home and abroad, and on the basis of full argumentation and scientific analysis, China Renmin University has further defined the construction objectives and tasks of national key disciplines, and put the discipline construction of national key disciplines at the core of the school discipline construction. Since 2002, the school has tracked and analyzed the construction of 25 national key disciplines, comprehensively understood the characteristics and advantages of each key discipline, emphatically analyzed the problems existing in each key discipline, and actively found out the ideas and methods to solve the problems, effectively improving the core competitiveness of each discipline. In the discipline construction, we should pay attention to introducing influential young and middle-aged scholars, so as to optimize the discipline structure and academic echelon and enhance the sustainable competitiveness of the discipline; While paying attention to basic theoretical research, we should pay more attention to the research on major theoretical issues and frontier issues of discipline development, and strive to innovate research contents and methods; By encouraging teachers to participate in international academic conferences, or cooperating with foreign research institutions, and inviting famous foreign scholars to give lectures, the internationalization of the discipline has been further enhanced.
