After reading this article repeatedly, I admire Dewey more and more. In just five parts, the educational logic, educational phenomena and educational puzzles that we have answered are amazing. I got the following three inspirations:
I. The existence of education
Dewey said that "all education is carried out through individual participation in human social consciousness". This sentence skillfully explains the relationship between man and society. My understanding of it is that education is the hub connecting people and society. From the beginning of a new life, people's behavior almost always conforms to the way of social existence. In order to survive, except for instinctive things, the formation of all other knowledge and skills has a lot to do with education. The relationship between man and society is complementary. People are the cornerstone of society, and a society without people cannot exist. At the same time, because people have built a society, they have become social people and need to learn the ways of survival and development in society. Education may not be put forward in a defined term in this process, but its existence is beyond doubt. Most of such education is carried out in a subtle way, and knowledge and skills are also accumulated and precipitated in this process. However, most of the knowledge and skills acquired through this kind of education are scattered and have no systematic orientation, so they lack some controllability in the process of application.
The only real education comes from the stimulation of children's abilities, which is caused by children's own social situation and various requirements. Simply put, the knowledge and skills formed because of social needs are the real educational process, and the group targeted by this educational process is children. The knowledge and skills formed by such education are not only more systematic and targeted, but also conducive to being recognized by the society and gaining the "ability" endowed with social significance.
Second, develop education.
It is indeed reasonable to educate children according to the possible social needs of sociology and psychology to meet the needs of adapting to society and inheriting culture. However, in the process of such education, we must always pay attention to children's physical and mental development and conduct in-depth and detailed analysis, otherwise education may become arbitrary. Such an education may be possible for a few people, but it is too unfeasible. It can be seen that education is in the process of development, and the development and change of society, the psychological and physical development of the educated and the development and change of education itself will all affect the result of education. Education should put an end to arbitrariness, and the fluctuation of time may have irreversible consequences. On this basis, it reminds us that we should pay attention to the balance between society and psychology at the same time in education, and take appropriate educational measures in combination with the psychological situation of the educated under the condition of paying close attention to social changes, so as to meet the needs of society and become real social people.
In recent years, China has put forward quality education and new educational reform. These new educational models are an opportunity to change the traditional school education model. The changing and developing society has put forward new requirements for talents, and education has also changed accordingly, which also confirms the developmental nature of education.
Third, the socialization of school education
In the actual process of education, we regard the school as an educational institution, which mainly undertakes education. The formation of schools is indeed conducive to the majority of people to receive education and expand the breadth of education. "Since education is a social process, school is a form of social life. In this form of social life, all the most effective means are concentrated to train children to share the wealth inherited by mankind and use their abilities for social purposes. " The existing school education regards the school as a place to impart certain knowledge, study certain courses or form certain habits, which is inconsistent with "the school is a form of social life".
In the present school education, school is not really regarded as a kind of life. Education is originally the connecting hub between people and society, so the process of receiving education is the process of connecting with society. The initial education originated from the family, and the education carried out in the family is the most primitive and basic education, and it is also the initial connection with society. School education is an extension of family education, which expands the width, breadth and depth of contact with society, making the original simple family life complicated and real, but simpler and narrower than the real social life. Even so, it is a powerful way for schools to educate children to socialize, which is a process of linking.
Modern education regards the school as a place to impart certain knowledge, study certain courses or form certain habits. Ignoring that the school should exist as a microcosm of society, it deviates from the track when making teaching objectives, teaching plans and teaching methods. At present, the value embodiment of knowledge and skills required by school education is defined in the distant future. We don't know what will happen in the future, so this educational model is actually not suitable for children who need to seek social value in their development. In China's current educational model, only university education is slightly close to "socialized schools". Referring to the university model, we can see that under such a teaching environment, the growth and changes of talents are not comparable to those of ordinary school education, but there are also many problems in the existing university education, so there are still many problems to be solved in the construction of "socialized schools".
