The first-level discipline is a big discipline category, and two disciplines is a major under the main category. First-level disciplines usually refer to disciplines, such as natural science, social science, humanities and so on. Below these first-level disciplines, there are many two disciplines, which is usually called majors. For example, under the first-level discipline of natural science, it can be subdivided into two disciplines: physics, chemistry and biology. On 20 1 1 year, the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and the Ministry of Education promulgated the Catalogue of Degree Granting and Talent Training (20 1 1), which set up 13 main disciplines. The art discipline, which originally belonged to literature, has become a 13 discipline, that is, an art discipline, which is independent from China language and literature (050 1), foreign language and literature (0502), journalism and communication (0503) and art discipline (0504). There are five first-level disciplines under the art category, namely, art theory (130 1), music and dance (1302), drama and film (1303), art (1304) and design (650). In addition, the Catalogue of Disciplines for Degree Granting and Talent Training (20 1 1) increased the number of first-level disciplines from 89 to 1 10.
