He lived in Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing, and returned to Hong Kong at the age of twelve. Being interested in music and literature, she (who won the first prize in the piano competition of Hong Kong Inter-school Music Festival) wanted to make money to make up for her poor family, and entered Shaw's "Southland Film Training Course" which is equally famous with Jing Li, Pei-Pei Cheng and Pan Yingzi. 1963 signed a seven-year contract with "Xiao" (another three-year contract, a total of ten years). Because of their cooperation with Liang Yusheng's brother Ling Bo, they also appeared in Huangmei-tune costume films, such as The Order of the Phoenix and The West Chamber.
