What is hand in hand?
The "hand in hand" mutual assistance activity began in the early 1990s and was jointly initiated by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the National Youth Working Committee. This is a practical education activity aimed at advocating mutual exchange, mutual help and mutual benefit between urban and rural areas, rich and poor, healthy and disabled children, and children of different nationalities.

The purpose of "hand in hand" mutual assistance activity is to guide children to understand the national conditions and society, cultivate patriotism, collectivism and socialist spirit from an early age, and cultivate a sound personality of helping others, unity and friendship through exchanges, mutual assistance and services between the Young Pioneers and the team organizations.

The principle of "hand in hand" mutual assistance activities is: taking the city as the leading factor, radiating the vast rural areas and the old, less, border and poor areas; Emphasize mutual assistance, mutual learning and common progress, and prevent simple rescue behavior; Advocate convenience nearby and do what you can.

Every young pioneer who participates in "hand in hand" mutual assistance activities has to go through three steps: Step one: "hand in hand to find friends". Grassroots Young Pioneers organizations provide lists of children in poor areas or difficulties, and organize team members to fill out "hand in hand friendship cards" to find friends in need. Step 2: "Make friends hand in hand". Team members participating in the activities should achieve "five ones": hand in hand to make a good friend, hand in hand to write a letter to make friends, send a good book (or a newspaper or a stationery) to friends, do a good deed for friends, and learn a new knowledge (or skill) from friends. Step 3: "Meet friends hand in hand". Young Pioneers organizations at all levels should make use of the winter and summer vacations to organize members to visit friends hand in hand and participate in various practical activities and experiences together.
