Moral behavior

This is a young man who was born in an educational family in Wuxi, Jiangsu. He was gifted at an early age and got excellent grades. With the idea of "saving the country by reading", he studied hard and was admitted to the Mathematics Department of Southeast University in 1927 (renamed Central University in 1928), then transferred to the Physics Department, and joined the Dida Society, a national salvation organization organized by patriotic students in Tsinghua University, Beijing. 1928 the occurrence of the Jinan tragedy and the poverty of social status further ignited his patriotic passion. In contact with the progressive youth, he gradually realized that the road of "saving the country by science" was not feasible, and he embarked on the road of saving the country by revolution. He is the martyr Gu Heng of Yuhuatai Martyrs Memorial Hall in Chen Zhan.

1929, Gu Heng gave up his favorite major and was invited to Beiping as a teacher of Nong Xin Agricultural School, and joined China in the autumn of 1930. 193 1 year, the party organization sent gu heng to work in Anhui Taihe. In order to open up the work situation and change his image as a weak scholar, Gu Heng was tanned, dressed as a local farmer and became an out-and-out farmer. He did farm work with farmers, spoke dialects, inspired farmers' consciousness in their work, developed Party members, and actively organized workers and students to fight against corrupt officials. By the next spring, the county had more than 300 armed men and more than 2,000 Red Guards.

1933, after the seventh destruction of the Nanjing Party organization, Gu Heng was ordered to take over as the secretary of Nanjing Special Branch. At that time, there was only one spy branch in Nanking, with 89 people in party member, and numerous constitutional policemen and spies. The working environment was very bad and dangerous. Gu Henggang took off farmers' clothes and put on faded workers' shorts and hats. He often appeared in places where workers were concentrated, such as Puzhen Machinery Factory and Shimonoseki, to make friends with workers and publicize revolutionary ideas. He is almost like a worker, the only thing that makes him dissatisfied is that his hands are still relatively white. He knew that washing clothes with alkaline water would make his hands rough, so he put a lot of alkali in the water to wash clothes and rubbed his hands back and forth in the sand until his hands became rough.

Because Gu Heng was injured by a pistol fire when he was in Taihe, he never fully recovered and walked with a limp. In addition, he often works until the early hours of the morning, with heavy tasks, malnutrition and no color in his face. When Ge Helin, then Minister of Organization, saw it, he wanted to add some nutrition to Gu Heng to make him eat better. Gu Heng complained a lot about this. He said to Ge Helin, "You are helping me raise money for the party. If you have money, you should donate it to the party. The food I eat here is much better than that of workers and farmers. Now that the party's funds are so difficult, you must not waste them! " Looking at Gu Heng's thin face, Ge Helin's emotion surge. A former scholar with superior family conditions was completely transformed in the revolutionary work.

1934, after Gu Heng was arrested, his father came to visit in prison and held his son's stout hand. He couldn't help but think of the scene when he held his hand and taught him to write with a red pen, and he burst into tears. The revolution made this once white-faced scholar strong and calm.
