Present situation and improvement direction of engineering education in China
In recent years, engineering education has been controversial in China. Some people accuse that engineering education only stays at the theoretical level, which makes it difficult for students to apply what they have learned after graduation. However, we can't deny that engineering education in China has made great progress in the past decades. This paper will discuss the present situation of engineering education in China and put forward three suggestions for improvement to better meet the needs of enterprises.

Theory divorced from practice.

Engineering education pays too much attention to the instillation of theoretical knowledge and ignores the cultivation of practical ability. Students often lack practical experience related to practical work during school, which makes it difficult to adapt to the working environment after graduation.

Teaching methods are out of date.

Traditional engineering education pays attention to teachers' narration, and students passively accept knowledge, lacking the cultivation of active thinking and practical ability. At the same time, the development of engineering industry is changing with each passing day, but the teaching methods are not followed up in time, which leads to the gap between the educational content and the actual demand.

Lack of practical project experience

Engineering education depends on theoretical courses to a great extent, but lacks the cultivation of practical project experience. This leads to students often need to make up for the lack of practical experience through internship or training after graduation.

The combination of practice and theory

Combine practical teaching with theoretical courses, introduce practical cases and projects, and let students solve practical problems themselves in class. Schools can cooperate with enterprises to provide internship opportunities for students to exercise their abilities in a real working environment.

Strengthen the cultivation of innovative thinking

Engineering education should focus on cultivating students' innovative thinking ability. Engineering education needs to work closely with the industry to understand the demand and development trend of the industry in time.
