Teaching content is the intermediary between teaching objectives and teaching implementation. In junior high school English teaching, most teachers only pay attention to the teaching of English language knowledge such as words, phrases, fixed collocations and sentences, ignoring the excavation of the connotation of ideological and moral education and even ignoring the requirements for students to think in English. Students only pay attention to the study of textbook knowledge, but fail to think about what they have learned, which leads to the lack of ideological and moral education in junior high school English teaching.
Teachers only pay attention to the improvement of English language ability and the realization of intellectual development goals, ignoring the implementation of students' learning attitude, noble moral sentiments, personality cultivation, correct outlook on life, values and world outlook, and regard students as containers for passively accepting knowledge. The ideological and moral education in English teaching exists in name only, which leads to its absence.
