Colleges and universities directly under the Ministry of Education are also the largest part of subordinate colleges and universities, and the rest are, for example; There are seven schools directly under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, namely Beijing Institute of Technology, Beihang University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Nanjing University of Science and Technology and Harbin Engineering University.

Colleges and universities directly under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology originally belonged to the Ministry of National Defense Science and Technology, also known as 7 national defense universities.
