Yan believes that there are four basic problems in rural China, namely ignorance, poverty, weakness and selfishness. "Ignorance" means that most people are illiterate; "Poverty" refers to the extreme poverty of people's lives; "Weak" means that medical security is insufficient and people's health level is low; "Private" refers to people's lack of cooperative spirit and civic awareness.
Liang Shuming, on the other hand, believes that the above problems are only superficial phenomena in China society, and the deep reason is cultural imbalance. China's culture is rooted in the countryside. To solve the China problem, we must start with rural construction, transform a new culture from the old culture in China, and create a new culture to save the old countryside.
