Tianjin Open University, founded in 1958, is the first distance education institution in China with radio correspondence as its main teaching method. The school has experienced three stages: Tianjin Radio and Correspondence University, Tianjin Radio and Correspondence University and Tianjin Open University. On February 26th, 2020, 65438, with the approval of Tianjin Municipal People's Government, the school was renamed Tianjin Open University.
