Husky puppy

1. Incubator

After the little husky is born, if the bitch behaves well and will take good care of the puppy, let the puppy and his mother stay in the prepared delivery room. If the bitch's condition is unstable, in order to avoid crushing the puppies (especially large dogs) or other accidental injuries, it is best to prepare an incubator for the puppies, and only let the bitches enter or take the puppies out for breastfeeding. You can use cardboard boxes, wooden boxes, styrofoam boxes, etc. Prepare an incubator; The size should be based on the width that the bitch can lie, and the bottom layer should be covered with newspapers, towels and so on. The shape is based on the principle that the bitch can come in and out without the puppy falling out. For puppies born in winter, pay special attention to the temperature of the incubator. Because the temperature regulation function of newborns is not developed, it is best to maintain the incubator at 25℃, and it must not be lower than 20℃. At the same time, the incubator should not be placed where the temperature difference changes too much. You might as well put a room temperature meter in the box so that you can check it at any time. The way of heat preservation can be light bulb or electric blanket. In addition, the incubator should be kept clean at all times, and dirty and wet broken newspapers or towels should be taken out and replaced frequently.

2. Breastfeeding

Newborns have only 29% immunity, but after absorbing breast milk, the immunity can be improved to 77%. In particular, the colostrum in the first three days contains a large number of transitional antibodies, which is enough to protect puppies from 6 to 8 weeks after absorbing colostrum, which is the best resistance to protect their health before vaccination. Breast milk is not only nutritious, but also provides disease resistance for puppies. Therefore, if the bitch has enough milk, it is best for the newborn to completely suck the mother's milk. At the same time, the whole feeding work can also be given to the bitch, and you only need to help from the side. If the mother's milk is insufficient, it can be supplemented by artificial breastfeeding, but it still can't completely replace the mother's milk. The limited mother's milk still needs to be distributed to every puppy to suck.

A. Wipe the breast with a hot towel before breastfeeding, gently squeeze the nipple with your hands to let the milk flow out, and then take the puppy out of the incubator for breastfeeding. Every two hours in the first week, every three hours in the second week and every four hours in the third week. By the fourth week, the puppy will steal mother's food.

B. Sometimes puppies can't find nipples or can't fit them. The owner had better put the puppy in front of the nipple and guide it to suck. You can also put your tail finger into the puppy's mouth to practice sucking, and then help it get close to the nipple while it is still open.

C. It is best to let each nipple be sucked evenly by the puppy, and each puppy can suck enough breast milk, so that the puppy of the same fetus will not be too big or too small.

D. When the bitch is breastfeeding, she will lick the anus and genitals of the puppy to stimulate the excretion of the puppy. Otherwise, if the feces stay in the body, the puppy will easily get sick. If the bitch does not have this behavior, the owner must use toilet paper or gauze to stimulate excretion, so that the puppy can defecate smoothly. Usually, the bitch licks the puppy's excrement. In case the puppy gets dirty, you can clean it with a warm towel.

E. If it is a caesarean section, the puppy should pay close attention when sucking milk, so as to prevent the suture of the bitch from being torn and the wound from cracking.

3. Artificial breastfeeding

The bitch died unfortunately, or there was insufficient milk, too many fetuses or the bitch had fever during lactation. It is necessary to replace or supplement breast milk by artificial breastfeeding. Pay attention to when artificial breastfeeding:

A.the composition of milk is very different from that of dog milk. Milk is low in protein, low in fat and high in lactose, while dog milk is high in protein, high in fat and low in lactose. Therefore, it is not enough to feed only milk. Dog milk powder can be bought on the market now, and its composition is close to that of dog milk, so it can be used as long as it is brewed; If you have to use milk, you have to add egg yolk, bone meal and so on. And brew and feed it at twice the concentration.

B.it's easier to feed dogs with special bottles (nipples are smaller).

C. Wipe the urethra and anus of the puppy with toilet paper before feeding, and let it excrete clean before feeding. When feeding, put the puppy's two front feet on your palm, tilt the bottle and twitch it up and down gently. Because puppies are used to massaging their breasts with their front feet when sucking milk, milk keeps flowing. It should be noted that if you feed your baby on your back, once the inhalation trachea blocks your nostrils, it will cause difficulty breathing.

D. Breastfeeding lasts for about 10~20 minutes at a time, and it doesn't stop until the stomach swells or falls asleep. The temperature of milk is around 39℃, so you must be patient to make the puppy fully fed when feeding. Keep the bottle clean, too. Don't save the milk left in the bottle for next feeding.

E. Many puppies can't adapt to artificial breastfeeding and will have diarrhea, especially when feeding "milk". Because dogs lack lactose, diarrhea will be more serious. Because the absorption of each puppy is not certain, if the puppy is not good to feed, it is best to consult a doctor.

4. Puppy growth check

A healthy newborn puppy is like a baby. Its mouth, nose, ears and foot pads are full of rosy blood. Besides being hungry and crying, it's time for a deep sleep. When the puppy is born, you should remember to weigh it and then watch its growth carefully. If the weight does not continue to gain, it may be that the mother's milk is insufficient, or the puppy itself has a disease and needs medical treatment to improve. The general puppy's growth process is as follows:

A. the first week: the umbilical cord falls off and the weight doubles. If it is necessary to cut off the tail or the wolf's toes, it should be done on the 4 th to 7 th day. . Week 2: Slowly open your eyes and ears and start to learn to stand.

C. Week 3: Come out slowly, learn to walk, and react to shaking and bright things at the same time.

D. the fourth week: begin to know the bitch and the owner; Starting from this week, weaning can be carried out gradually. At first, it was brewed with dog milk powder instead, and after a few days, it gradually turned into dog food for weaning. When the puppy enters the fourth week, it can not only see with its eyes, but also hear with its ears. When feeding, you can also put it in a bowl and let it drink by itself! Starting from this week, the life education of puppies should also be carried out, such as defecation training, rewards and punishments, etc. Don't neglect discipline just because you are young!

E. week 5: the puppy's baby teeth have grown out! Some solid foods (weaned dog food, minced meat, etc. ) can be added to its liquid dog food. In addition, puppies born about a month should go to the hospital to check their feces and carry out insect repellent.

F. Week 6: You can start taking the puppy to the hospital for vaccination to prevent the puppy from being infected with viral diseases.
