Several years of compulsory education
Nine-year compulsory education is a national education that school-age children and adolescents must accept according to law and is guaranteed by the state, society and family. Its essence is a system of compulsory education for school-age children and adolescents for a certain period of time according to law. Compulsory education originated in Germany. In the European Reformation Movement in the16th century, Protestant countries advocated extensive education in order to promote religious education. The religious leader Martin Luther was the first person to put forward the concept of compulsory education. In 1980s, China proposed that the state should free tuition fees for students receiving compulsory education. However, due to the lack of government investment, primary school students and junior high school students still have to pay a certain amount of study fees. This has caused a certain burden to many students with financial difficulties. The Compulsory Education Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) was promulgated in April 1986, which stipulated that nine-year compulsory education should be implemented in China, and educational system reform was carried out in various places. In the autumn semester of 2008, all cities in China were exempted from tuition and miscellaneous fees for compulsory education, and all students in the compulsory education stage in China were free to attend school.
