What obligations do parents have to protect their minor children in the Civil Code?

Parents' obligations to their minor children include education, protection and upbringing. If parents fail to perform their maintenance obligations, minor children or adult children who cannot live independently may ask their parents to pay maintenance fees.

Legal objectivity:

Article 26 of the Civil Code of People's Republic of China (PRC) stipulates that parents have the obligation to support, educate and protect their minor children. Adult children have the obligation to support, help and protect their parents. Article 1067 of the Civil Code of People's Republic of China (PRC) stipulates that minor children or adult children who cannot live independently have the right to ask their parents to pay alimony if they fail to fulfill their alimony obligations. Parents who fail to perform their maintenance obligations, lack the ability to work or have difficulties in living have the right to claim alimony from their adult children. Article 1068 of the Civil Code of People's Republic of China (PRC) stipulates that parents have the right and obligation to educate and protect their minor children. If a minor child causes damage to others, parents shall bear civil liability according to law.
