Lvyin Village is the most effective village in karst area. Almost all villagers use local materials to build houses and process stones into various shapes, so tiles are rarely seen on the roofs of these places, and flaky shale strata are the best substitute. One day, Hu Chengzhi (from the exhibition hall of the Ministry of Geology, now a paleontologist in geological museum, China) came across a slightly protruding strange pattern on the slate on the roof of a villager's house in the shade. His high professional sensitivity tells him that this may be a fossil.
After careful study, it is confirmed that this species is a new discovery, and its survival time is presumed to be Triassic (252 million ~ 654.38+99 million years ago). This is a small marine reptile, belonging to the Polypodactyl. It is small, but its body is slender and curved, and its limbs are quite strong. Later, Professor Yang, the originator of vertebrate paleontology studies in China, named the species "Guizhou Dragon". In order to let future generations remember the fossil discoverer Mr. Hu Chengzhi, its full name is "Zhou Longhui".

Half a century later, a large number of Triassic vertebrate fossils were unearthed in Wusha area of Xingyi City, which attracted strong attention from academic circles at home and abroad. There are a large number of well-preserved and beautiful fossils in the paleontological relics here, especially marine reptiles and fish, with rich and complete species and diverse groups, including ichthyosaurs, ichthyosaurs and protosaurs, and as many as 9 families 13 genera of fish. As a single species name, "Guizhou Dragon" is not enough to cover the whole fauna, so the academic community changed its official name to "Xingyi Fauna".
The most important significance of Xingyi fauna is that it records the great changes in the appearance and morphology of Triassic marine reptiles, which is of great significance for understanding the distribution and migration mode of all Triassic marine reptiles, and on the other hand, it proves the recovery of marine ecosystem.
252 million years ago, global volcanic activity led to the extinction of life on earth, and 95% of marine life disappeared because of this catastrophe. However, life goes on. In the early Triassic, shortly after the extinction event, it showed that some reptiles that had adapted to land life returned to the ocean and evolved aquatic capabilities. Moreover, the fossil resources of marine reptiles in Xingyi fauna are very continuous in the stratum, which is unique among all similar producing areas in the world, allowing us to get a glimpse of the mystery of life changes.

As a geological relic in southwest Guizhou, after being discovered, it also involves stories that once happened to them. As the birthplace of the remains of Guizhou Dragon, Guizhou Dragon Museum and Xingyi National Geopark Museum in southwest Guizhou are displaying all kinds of paleontological fossils, and integrating popular science education with tourism, which seems to be a scene.
