Since 1996, China has designated the last week of March as the national safety education day for primary and secondary school students. Every year, primary and secondary schools in China hold lectures, knowledge contests, watch traffic accident videos, distribute safety manuals, make billboards, organize traffic safety training camps and other activities on this day to educate students on preventing fires, crowded trampling, traffic accidents, drowning and other accidents.
