This visit to Yanjing Little Swan Public Welfare School gave me a deeper understanding of public welfare, because my company, Xue Xin Science and Technology, organized a public welfare donation activity, and the first donation object was the school. My colleagues and I went to the school to attend the donation ceremony and reported it by the way.
Last Friday afternoon, before 1, a teacher Wang received us. She introduced the school and children in great detail. After several hours of contact, we were infected by this group of children and expressed deep admiration for the teachers here. The following writing is mainly based on the interviewee's statement and the current situation we have observed.
A principal who runs a school for public welfare and has boundless merits.
Yanjing Little Swan Public Welfare School was established in August, 20 10. The founder, surnamed Yan, mainly serves the children of migrant workers. The school was transformed from an abandoned warehouse in Changping District, Beijing. At the beginning, the headmaster took all the expenses. By chance, a volunteer teacher stumbled upon the FT Chinese website "The world changes because of you" public service essay contest and signed up to submit the entries on the last day of the deadline. Therefore, the organizer contacted the school and awarded the first prize to the school, that is, 1 10,000 yuan of public welfare funding for school construction.
However, during the summer vacation of 20 1 1, 24 schools for children of migrant workers in Chaoyang, Daxing and Haidian were forced to close, and the children were diverted to nearby public schools. However, these foreign children are not paid due attention to the teacher resources, and the course study and even the textbook version may be different, so it is difficult to integrate into the new environment. Fortunately, the headmaster tried to keep the school safe and sound and accepted an interview with CCTV.
Although the conditions in all aspects are not satisfactory, the school still attaches great importance to teaching, recruiting professional teachers to teach three main courses: Chinese, mathematics and English, and the rest of the auxiliary courses are mostly taught by volunteers or part-time, with only one or two classes per week; At the same time, the school still has a certain number of places for students with excellent academic performance to enter Beijing public middle schools. At present, more than 1000 students have successfully entered the school, and these achievements cannot be separated from the hard work of more than 30 teachers.
Interviewee Mr. Wang joined the company on March 20 1 1. Up to now, there are more than 200 children, 1 in a class in grade 6. When asked why Mr. Wang could persist for five years, she admitted that it was inseparable from her childhood experience. Since her parents worked in Beijing when she was a child and her brother followed her parents, she stayed in her hometown in Henan. After graduating from normal university, she worked in Beijing, but her parents went back to their hometown, so she knew very well that children needed to be with their parents. I think the companionship of parents is the best education for children.
Therefore, she stayed not only to make up for her inner shortcomings, but also to stick to her values and responsibilities. As a teacher, it is a happy and meaningful thing to give these children a sound learning environment and watch them grow up healthily together. "The longer you stay, the more unbearable it is," she said. Every child here is very close to her and comes to say a few words from time to time. She also knows a lot about many children.
A studious, lively and happy child.
The children here are much more lively than I expected. After class, they had a good time on the playground, and they were less at home when they met foreigners. Several students came to ask us what we do. One boy always asked our photographer colleagues to take pictures of him, but he put on a very shocking posture, sticking his ass up on one leg, which made us laugh. .
In class, the children put their English textbooks for grade three on the desks and listened to the speeches made by the representatives of Xue Xin Science and Technology Company. He claimed as an uncle, saying nothing, but teaching children the skills to improve their academic performance. Every time they ask a question, they answer it loudly and uniformly. This is a group of obedient children.
Later, each child was assigned a unique "toy", which was used by the Xue Xin Class Pass, with the students' names written on it to attend English classes! The children are both excited and curious, always clinging to the class and not wanting to let go; In the answering session, the lively scene, who caught everyone's eye, if the answer is right, the players will be happy; If the answer is wrong, your face will be full of troubles and embarrassment. Until the end of the last class, they didn't want to finish class, shouting "continue" in unison ... This is a group of children who study hard and hope to change their destiny through knowledge.
In fact, I am also a left-behind child. I envy the children who have followed their parents since childhood, and there are such public welfare schools to train them. In the future, they will always strive for it on their own. I also admire such a young teacher Wang, who can stick to the hard line and engage in education; I hope more forces will join the Xue Xin Science and Technology Public Welfare Bank to help these public welfare schools!
