What is subject evaluation?
Discipline evaluation refers to the overall level evaluation of the first-level disciplines with the right to award doctoral and master's degrees by the Academic Degrees and Postgraduate Education Development Center of the Ministry of Education (hereinafter referred to as the Academic Degrees Center) according to the Catalogue of Degree and Talent Training issued by the the State Council Academic Degrees Committee and the Ministry of Education.
Subject evaluation is a non-administrative and service evaluation project carried out by the degree center in the form of a third party. It was first conducted in 2002, and four rounds were completed by 20 17. Subject evaluation is based on the principle of "voluntary application and free participation" and adopts the method of "combining objective evaluation with subjective evaluation".
The evaluation system has made many innovations on the basis of the first three rounds; The evaluation data is obtained in the way of "combining public data with unit declaration"; The evaluation results are presented in the form of "grades", and the specific method is to publish the top 70% of the nine grades according to the ranking percentile of "overall level score of disciplines":
The top 2% (or 2%) is A+, 2% ~ 5% is A (excluding 2%, the same below), 5% ~ 10% is A-, 10% ~ 20% is B+, 20% ~ 30% is B, and 30% is B.
The purpose of publishing the evaluation results is to provide objective information for the participating units to understand the advantages and disadvantages of the discipline, promote the construction of the connotation of the discipline and improve the quality of postgraduate training; Provide reference for students to choose disciplines and majors; At the same time, it is also convenient for all sectors of society to understand the present situation and achievements of subject connotation construction in universities and scientific research units in China.
