Weicheng town history and culture
The Acropolis, formerly known as Zhenxiwei, can be traced back to the Yuan and Ming Dynasties. In the Yuan Dynasty, the Acropolis belonged to Bafan Xuanwei Company, Shunyuan Road Xuanwei Company and Yixi Buxue Xuanwei Company. In the early and middle period of Ming Dynasty, it belonged to Xuanwei Company in Guizhou, and belonged to Shui Xi 'an, a minority nationality, and was called "leaning on leaves to cover music". At the end of the Ming Dynasty, after the Narcissus An Rebellion, the Ming government counterattacked. In order to strengthen military monitoring in ethnic minority areas, the guards in Zhenxi were set up in the land of "six eyes outside the water", and the guards were located in today's Weizhen. Since then, through the construction of several generations of commanders, such as Guo Weiyuan, Long Tulin and Long Bijin, the acropolis in Zhenxi has begun to take shape.

The Acropolis in Zhenxi is an ancient town of "prospering commerce with the army", and its special geographical position made it the throat of the Ming government to control the ethnic minorities in Shuixi area. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, with the increasingly prominent traffic and military status of Zhenxiwei, foreign businessmen and local businessmen set up shops here in succession, and various cultures and local customs infiltrated and blended with each other, forming a unique and inclusive architectural culture, food culture and folk culture.

In addition, in February of 1936, the Red Army Corps and the Sixth Army Corps, led by He Long and Xiao Ke, entered the Acropolis, where a thousand-person meeting was held to publicize the idea of resisting Japan and saving the nation. At the same time, the landlord's food and salt were given to the poor, which won the support of the broad masses. Alex Yang, Tan Zhide and other 29 Qingzhen people joined the Red Army here, laying a solid foundation for the red culture of the Acropolis.

With the economic and cultural prosperity of Weicheng Town, traditional cultures such as Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism and local sacrifices in other areas have flourished in the Acropolis in the west of the town. Local gentry and foreign businessmen built temples and halls here, including Wenchang Palace, Huangyuge, Chaoyin Temple, Guandi Temple, Shuihu Temple, Moody Temple, Fufeng Pavilion, Jiangxi Hall (Wanshou Palace) and Sichuan Hall (Sichuan Hall). But the wars in Ming and Qing Dynasties and the Republic of China destroyed most of the temples and halls. However, from the few remaining sites and folk memories, we can still vaguely see the architectural style and characteristics of the West Acropolis in Ming and Qing Dynasties.

Since ancient times, the acropolis in the west of the town has enjoyed a prosperous style of writing and a large number of talented people. During the imperial examination, the acropolis in Zhenxi produced several scholars in Qing Dynasty. After the abolition of the imperial examination, some squires founded voluntary schools and schools, which trained a large number of talents for the development of the Acropolis. Then the provincial Guiyang Normal School moved to the Acropolis, which made great contributions to the cultural education of the Acropolis.

From the end of the 20th century to the beginning of the 20th century, the party committee and government of Weicheng Town organized personnel to dig deep into the history and culture of the ancient town, edited and published Weicheng Town and Ancient Town, Nostalgia and Emotion, and declared Weicheng Town as a "famous historical and cultural town" at the provincial level. After on-the-spot investigation and evaluation by experts at all levels in provinces and cities, Weicheng Town was announced by Guizhou Province as a "famous historical and cultural town" at the provincial level in 2009.

Since then, in order to restore the original appearance of the ancient town of Weicheng, the Party Committee and the government of Weicheng have successively hired planning and design units to compile the Protection Plan for the Historic and Cultural Town of Weicheng in qingzhen city and the Proposal for Key Construction Projects, rationally divide the planning areas, determine the development goals, and turn Weicheng into a "historic and cultural town, tourist and leisure resort" from three aspects: excavating the history and culture of the ancient town, improving the urban infrastructure and rebuilding the historic buildings of the ancient town.
