It widely serves groups with special needs, such as hearing impairment, speech and language impairment, psychological impairment, mental retardation and autism. As the first rehabilitation education major in China, this major adheres to the school-running philosophy of "combining medicine with education, combining arts with science, and combining theory with practice", with abundant teachers and rich curriculum resources, which is in line with international standards and cultivates urgently needed "double-qualified" talents (teachers and rehabilitation teachers) who can not only engage in special education teaching tasks, but also undertake rehabilitation training tasks.
In recent years, with the unprecedented increase in China's attention and investment in the disabled, the demand for educational rehabilitation talents has surged and there is a shortage of educational rehabilitation talents. The employment of graduates of this major is in short supply. After graduation, students are mainly engaged in the assessment, rehabilitation, education, consultation, research and development of speech, hearing, cognition, psychology, sports and other obstacles in special education schools, rehabilitation centers, private welfare institutions, relevant departments of hospitals, scientific research institutions, resource classrooms of ordinary schools and other units or places.
Relying on the Key Laboratory of Speech and Auditory Science of the Ministry of Education and its clinical practice base, this major has rich teaching and clinical resources, providing a first-class experimental and practical platform for undergraduate education and rehabilitation courses. At present, this major has carried out extensive cooperation with China Teacher Development Foundation, China Rehabilitation Research Center for Deaf Children and China Child Welfare and Adoption Center. In the process of training, we should integrate teaching, scientific research and practice, improve students' own ability, and encourage students to apply for national professional qualifications such as teacher qualification certificate and hearing aid fitter at undergraduate level.
