The theory of multiple intelligences was put forward by Gardner, a psychologist at Harvard University Institute of Education, in 1983. This theory has attracted worldwide attention, and has become an important guiding ideology of education reform in many western countries since the 1990s, and has attracted much attention as one of the important theoretical bases for the reform of basic physical education curriculum in China. This theory and its application have also been mentioned in some textbooks and articles of physical education courses, but it is still lacking in practical application. The author discusses how to apply this theory in practice.

First, the significance of the application of multiple intelligences theory in physical education teaching

The significance of the application of multiple intelligences theory in physical education teaching is mainly manifested in the following two aspects:

1 The theory of multiple intelligences can influence teachers to form a positive and optimistic view of students. In fact, there is no question of who has high athletic ability and who has low athletic ability in teaching, but there is a question of which aspect of athletic ability is good, that is, there is no so-called "poor student" in physical education teaching, and every student is unique and excellent. Once such a view of students is formed, teachers are willing to hold positive and eager expectations for every student. He is willing to evaluate, observe and accept students from many angles, pay attention to discovering and discovering the bright spots in students, and discover and develop their potential.

The theory of multiple intelligences is helpful for teachers to establish a new "educational view". The theory of multiple intelligences not only puts forward that every student has the advantages and disadvantages of intelligence, but also puts forward that while giving full play to his advantages, every student should transfer the characteristics of his advantages to his disadvantages and promote the development of his shortcomings as much as possible. Therefore, physical education is first of all appreciation education, and teachers believe that every student is a capable person. Therefore, in physical education teaching, we create a multi-intelligence environment conducive to stimulating students' potential through the theory of multi-intelligence; Create an independent, cooperative and exploratory learning environment for students, promote the display and development of students' advantages and talents, and realize their personal values; Create vivid and interesting diversified teaching methods, establish a scientific and diversified evaluation system, and attach importance to the constructive role of evaluation in students' individual development. Taking this as a breakthrough point, we can guide students to consciously transfer their own characteristics and will quality to weak areas when they are engaged in activities in advantageous areas, develop and discover students' various potentials, and understand students' needs in development. Help students know themselves, build self-confidence and promote the all-round development of students' physical quality.

Second, the implementation of the theory of multiple intelligences in physical education.

1 Create a multi-intelligence environment conducive to stimulating students' potential. Gardner believes that there may be a maximum level of intelligence that genes can achieve. In real life, human intelligence is unlikely to approach this limit. But if we can provide students with more conditions conducive to the development of a certain kind of intelligence, then almost everyone can achieve certain results in the development of that kind of intelligence; On the other hand, if students have never been exposed to the intelligent environment, their physiological potential is unlikely to be stimulated, no matter how big it is. This tells us that only by providing students with a diversified learning environment. Their multiple intelligences can be stimulated and developed. In the teaching process, students' language intelligence can be developed by describing the concept, history and health theory of sports. Develop musical intelligence through sports dance and aerobics; Develop their interpersonal intelligence and self-knowledge intelligence through sports competitions; Develop natural observation intelligence through mountaineering and drifting; Develop students' spatial intelligence through horizontal bar and rock climbing, and so on. However, while creating a multi-intelligence environment conducive to stimulating students' potential, teachers should also reshape their roles, change from the authority of knowledge to the instructor, supporter, cooperator and partner of students' learning, establish a new, democratic and cooperative relationship between teachers and students, and develop students' learning autonomy and creativity.

2. Create vivid and interesting diversified teaching methods. Diversified teaching methods not only attach importance to the external atmosphere of "happy teaching" and "happy learning". It pays more attention to the internal "benefit"-the quality of physical education teaching. Its short-term goal is to cultivate students' good study habits and willingness to learn, and improve teaching effect. Gardner said: "A comprehensive understanding of any complex concept cannot be limited to a single cognitive model or expression." According to multiple intelligences theory. Intelligence can be the content of teaching. It can also be a means to communicate with the teaching content. This feature is of great significance for improving the current physical education classroom teaching. In physical education teaching, students with different intellectual advantages can present teaching contents in different ways, such as developing students' logical intelligence, mathematical intelligence and spatial intelligence with sports wall charts; Students with outstanding language intelligence can be expressed in the form of concept cartoons; Students with outstanding musical intelligence and sports intelligence can be demonstrated through performances; Students who are good at nature observation can use models to help them understand concepts. In the process of physical education teaching, every student can choose a learning method suitable for his own intellectual structure and characteristics, fully develop his superior intelligence and promote the development of his weak intelligence.

Through years of teaching practice, according to the age characteristics of middle school students and the reality of students, the author has adopted various teaching methods and achieved good results. (1) language excitation method. "Your progress has brought great surprises to the whole class." "What's your fancy? You really know how to think ","Students encourage him and give him a little applause ". When a naughty student with poor foundation makes a little progress, he is constantly affirmed and praised, thus achieving the practical effect of driving the progress of the whole class. (2) Target reward method. Whenever physical education class runs for endurance, students have the strongest reaction and are unwilling to run. In view of this situation, I first assigned a task to my classmates in class: running 15 laps today. The students got excited as soon as they heard it, and then I said, "However, if the students can run three laps and run better, they can run five laps less, two laps more and five laps less." After listening to this, the students immediately became interested. They are very energetic when they run, and even some fat people run hard. Finally, the task of 1500m was completed, and the effect was very good. (3) Competition award method. The school sports meeting every year is a great event for students, and it is also a time for students to show themselves through competitions. But this time is often the "world" of school sports players, and other students can't prove themselves through the competition at all, so the enthusiasm of students who sign up for the competition is not very high. Therefore, in view of this situation, we have reformed the sports meeting: all students who sign up for the competition can win honor for the class. The last student in each competition gets 1 point, the second last student gets 2 points, and so on. Therefore, once this measure is introduced, students' enthusiasm will be high. During the competition, students are full of efforts, because every student is 1 point. Students can fully show themselves and prove their value in the class.

In a word, the theory of multiple intelligences inspires us that since each student has his own unique learning style, we should explore and create a multiple intelligent environment that is conducive to stimulating students' potential, create vivid and interesting diversified teaching methods, establish a scientific and diversified evaluation system, create a diverse learning environment for students' autonomy, cooperation and exploration, and strive to discover and cultivate learning styles suitable for students, so as to gradually lead students' short-term sports goals to lifelong sports and make physical exercise enter their lives and become a part of their lives.
