To become a Buddhist layman, you need to go to the temple to accept three conversions. After the ceremony of three conversions, he became a formal Buddhist disciple, also known as a layman. Conversion means return and belonging. Three conversions, that is, when you belong to Buddhism, you need to abide by three constraints. When you convert, the owner of the temple should take you to read them out.
I would rather give my life than convert to all monty and heretics.
After converting to Buddhism, you can only believe in Buddhism, not Taoism and Christianity. )
Second, I would rather give my life than convert to all heretical classics.
After converting to Buddhism, only believing in Buddhist classics can help you get rid of it.
Since I converted to a monk, I would rather lay down my life than convert to all heresies.
After converting to Buddhism, don't convert to Taoists or other practitioners. )
Then I'm going to make four vows, also known as the Four Wishes, which are also to be read when I convert:
All living beings have boundless vows. Endless troubles and broken vows. Infinite wishes for Buddhism. The Buddha and Taoism made a supreme oath.
Every temple can convert people who want to convert, and the conversion ceremony is usually on the first and fifteenth day of the lunar calendar. Go on the same day, and you can go home after the transfer. You don't have to go to the temple to live in advance, just fill out the form and queue up at the temple before the conversion to the Dharma Association begins. Take your ID photo with you. You can call the local 1 14 to ask the number of the temple you want to convert to and ask the specifications of the photo required by the temple. It should be noted that conversion here does not mean who to convert to, nor which master or temple to convert to, but that you convert to the whole Buddhism and become a Buddhist disciple yourself. After conversion, you will get a dharma name, such as Yin Su and Miaoming, which will appear on your conversion certificate together with your photo.
After becoming a Buddhist, you are a disciple of the Buddha. To be modest, don't call yourself a Buddhist. Laymen, regardless of age or sex, are regarded as "senior brothers". Since you are a disciple of Buddha, you should do all kinds of evil and good. After becoming a monk, because you are a disciple of the Buddha, the dharma protector and the immortal will follow you and protect you. In my own words, it is best to read Buddha, chant Buddhist scriptures, often go to temples, or worship Buddha statues at home and so on. In short, a Buddhist should do his duty.
Some beginners mistakenly think that conversion is becoming a monk, but it is not. Conversion is not prohibited. When you convert, you will not be bound by the five commandments (killing thieves, debauchery and drinking) at the same time. Conversion is just to prove that you are a Buddhist disciple. There is also a special ceremony to accept the Five Commandments, and clothes related to the Five Commandments should be worn. So conversion is conversion, and receiving the five precepts is receiving the five precepts, which are two different things. . . It's just that we converts should be strict with ourselves according to the Five Commandments. If you really want to accept the Five Commandments, you have to attend another ceremony to accept the Five Commandments, which is not available in the conversion ceremony.
