Wuhu No.1 Middle School is a century-old prestigious school with a long history of running a school and a glorious revolutionary tradition. It is an established key middle school in Anhui Province (1958) and the first batch of demonstration high schools in the province. Its predecessor was Zhongjiang Academy (1765), which was founded in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty.

1903, when Chinese and western civilizations met, Zhongjiang College was renamed Wanjiang Middle School and began to enter the historical process of running a new school.
