Guangzhou University, referred to as Gu for short, is a full-time ordinary institution of higher learning organized by the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government of Guangdong Province, with a school-running system for the whole city. It is a national key construction institution "11plan" and a high-level university in Guangdong and Guangzhou.
The history of Guangzhou University can be traced back to the private Guangzhou University founded by 1927. 195 1 merged into South China United University; 1983 prepares to resume classes, and 1984 is named Guangzhou University.
In July 2000, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it cooperated with Guangzhou Institute of Education (founded in 1953), Guangzhou Teachers College (founded in 1958), West Campus of South China Institute of Architecture (founded in 1984) and Guangzhou Teachers College (founded in 1985).
By March 2023, the school had University Town, Guihuagang and Huangpu Research Institute/Graduate School, with a total campus area of 1880 mu and a total construction area of 885,000 square meters. There are 25 professional colleges and 74 undergraduate enrollment majors.
