The new curriculum standard points out that the curriculum content consists of six elements: theme, discourse, language knowledge, cultural knowledge, language skills and learning strategies, which are an interrelated organic whole and together form the content foundation of core literacy development.
The content of English courses in compulsory education is divided into three levels. The first, second and third grades correspond to grades 3-4, 5-6 and 7-9 respectively. The three basic levels have different learning ranges and requirements for the six elements of the course content.
It is worth noting that the new curriculum standard also sets a preparatory level, which clearly requires the learning activities of 1 to grade 2, and adds a level after each level of 1 to grade 3 to "provide choices for students who have spare capacity for learning" and encourage each student to demand themselves with higher standards.
