The majors of Shenyang Conservatory of Music mainly include musicology, composition and composition technology theory, music performance, music performance (vocal singing), music performance (keyboard instrument performance), dance performance, dance science, dance choreography, performance (film and television performance, music performance), broadcasting and hosting, radio and television director, drama film and television (literature) and drama film and television (art design).

The College of Music Education now has teaching units: Music Education Department, Vocal Music Education Department, National Vocal Music Education Department, Keyboard Instrumental Music Education Department, Orchestral Instrumental Music Education Department, National Instrumental Music Education Department and Professional Basic Courses Teaching and Research Section.

The predecessor of Shenyang Conservatory of Music was Lu Xun Art College founded in Yan 'an in 1938 by proletarian revolutionaries of the older generation such as Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai, and it was the first art college founded by China.

1958 changed its name to Shenyang Conservatory of Music. The College has four campuses: Hao San Campus, Changqing Campus, Taoxian Campus and Dalian Campus.
