The difference between a doctor and a postdoctoral fellow is that a doctor is the highest degree in China. Postdoctoral positions are jobs, not academic levels. In addition to the above essential differences, doctors and postdocs have the following differences:
1. There are different ways to get the corresponding title.
Doctors usually have two ways of learning: application-examination or doctoral entrance examination, and they can obtain the corresponding doctoral title only after obtaining the corresponding diploma and degree certificate after graduation; Postdoctoral students can get a postdoctoral certificate after leaving the station, which is equivalent to an honorary certificate, but it is actually a job. Generally, it is a platform for doctoral students who have graduated but have not obtained efficient teaching posts, research institutes or enterprise posts to continue their research in their fields. Doctors who are engaged in scientific research in postdoctoral mobile stations can not only get teaching opportunities by virtue of their postdoctoral research achievements, but also provide a transition and buffer for their subsequent career.
2. The academic level of doctor and postdoctoral can't be compared.
Because postdoctoral is neither a diploma nor a degree education, it is just a kind of work experience, and we can simply compare it with doctoral degree, because postdoctoral is not a time point relative to doctoral graduation, and generally speaking, doctors with postdoctoral experience have improved their research experience (unless some doctoral research is not smooth), which is mainly an experience. However, in China, it should be noted that only those who have obtained doctoral degrees are eligible to apply for joining the corresponding postdoctoral mobile stations to engage in scientific research, and receive corresponding wages and subsidies.
3. The time and status of obtaining the corresponding title are different.
Generally, a doctor can get the corresponding doctorate and diploma after graduation in the school system (ranging from 4 to 8 years); Domestic postdoctoral doctors generally stipulate that the time is basically about 2 years; At the same time, doctors are generally students (except in-service doctors) and have not entered the society to participate in work; Postdoctoral working status (employees are not allowed to apply for part-time postdoctoral research work), and their postdoctoral working hours can be included in social security services.
