As of June 2022, the school has 17 colleges (departments), 63 undergraduate majors, 28 first-class disciplines authorized by master's degrees, 16 first-class disciplines authorized by master's degrees, 16 first-class disciplines authorized by doctoral degrees, 2 first-class disciplines authorized by doctoral degrees, and 15 postdoctoral students. Botany and zoology, agricultural science, biology and biochemistry, environmental science/ecology, microbiology, molecular biology and genetics are among the top ESI rankings in the world1%; 2 State Key Laboratories, National Local Joint Engineering Laboratories 1 each; 30 13 faculty members.
The school's predecessor was Hubei Agricultural School founded by Zhang Zhidong, Governor of Huguang in Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty, on 1898. After several evolutions, from 65438 to 0952, Huazhong Agricultural College was established in all departments of Agricultural College of Wuhan University, Hubei Agricultural College and some departments of Agricultural College of six comprehensive universities such as Sun Yat-sen University. 1979, approved by the State Council as a national key university, directly under the Ministry of Agriculture. 1985, renamed Huazhong Agricultural University. [3], Zhou, Yi Chunyu and other outstanding alumni have been trained.
By 2022, Huazhong Agricultural University will rank 42nd in China University of Soft Science in 2022; In 2022, ABC China University ranked 66th.
