Artux belongs to Kizilsu Kirgiz Autonomous Prefecture (Zhou Ke for short). During the Republic of China, the administrative office of Artux was established in September 1938, and was upgraded to Class C county in June 1943, under the administrative office of Kashgar. 1950 in March, the people's government of Artux County was established, and it was subordinate to Kashgar Commissioner's Office. 1954 in July, it was 1958.
