Is it necessary for students' eyesight to be included in education and health assessment?
Personally, I think it is still necessary. This proposal was put forward by deputies to the National People's Congress. The representative suggested innovating the evaluation mechanism of education, and including students' eyesight and physical health into the evaluation criteria of students' comprehensive quality. Some people may think that this is unfair to children who are already nearsighted and have hereditary myopia. But what we want to see is not only this group of people, but also a concrete analysis of this proposal.

First, let's look at a set of data. According to the data released by the National Health and Family Planning Commission, as early as 18, the myopia rate of adolescents and children in China has reached 53.6%. Among them, the myopia rate of 6-year-old children is 14.5%, that of primary school students is 36.0%, that of junior high school students is 7 1.6%, and that of senior high school students is 8 1.0%. It seems difficult to get rid of a rule: the higher the education, the more serious the myopia. This has fallen into a strange circle, and there is still a long way to go to prevent and control myopia in China.

Secondly, many people simply and rudely attribute the cause of children's myopia to the widespread use of electronic products such as mobile phones and computers. In fact, myopia is a disease of modern civilization. Not only in China, but also in the world, the incidence of myopia is on the rise, and it shows a trend of younger age. Indeed, due to the continuous development of science and technology, lifestyle is constantly changing. Modern people inevitably use all kinds of electronic products for a long time, especially mobile phones. Moreover, in recent years, the functions of mobile phones have been expanding, covering almost all aspects of life, such as entertainment, study, medical care, ordering food and so on. It is no exaggeration to say that mobile phones have become a necessity in modern society.

But children spend most of their time on campus and don't have mobile phones, so why is the high incidence of myopia rising?

Let's look at another set of data released by the National Health and Family Planning Commission: 67% students spend less than 2 hours in outdoor activities every day, and 29% students spend less than 1 hour; 73% of students have insufficient sleep every day; After-school homework time and continuous use of closed eyes are too long ... Therefore, it is not only mobile phones and computers that cause children's myopia, but also irregular homework and eye use.

Therefore, it is very necessary to incorporate students' vision into education and health assessment. As Tao Yong said: This is not a personal assessment of students. This assessment is aimed at the education sector, including teachers and schools. It can improve people's attention to children's myopia rate, and at the same time, it can gradually improve children's learning environment and reduce their burden.

Students who already suffer from myopia or visual impairment caused by genetic factors can be treated through special problems. This suggestion is necessary and feasible, but it can't be done in one step. We need to start with improving children's learning environment.
