Chongwu ancient city has a long history.
Chongwu Ancient City is located in the southeast seashore of Hui 'an County, Quanzhou City, Fujian Province, bordering the Taiwan Province Strait. It was built in 1387 (the 20th year of Ming Hongwu) by Jiang Xiahou and Zhou Dexing to resist the Japanese invasion. It is the most complete existing T-shaped stone ancient city in China and one of more than 60 Wei 'an castles built by the Ming government in Wan Li. 1988 was listed by the State Council as the third batch of national key cultural relics protection units, the first batch of "national defense education bases" in Fujian Province and the first batch of "patriotic education bases" and "national defense education bases" in Quanzhou. At the same time, Chongwu is also known as "one of the eight most beautiful coastlines in China".

"Chongwu" means "advocating military equipment". It was called "adzuki bean" in ancient times. In 19981year (the sixth year of rejuvenating the country in Song Taiping), when Hui' an established the county, it was a festival of worshipping Wuxiang, followed by a tour of the village by adzuki bean. At the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty, it was changed to Adzuki inspection department. 1370 (the third year of Ming Hongwu), Japanese pirate groups active in the coastal areas of North Korea and China suddenly landed on the fragrant paper Lijiang River, posing a threat to Quanzhou's public security. 1387 (twenty years of Hongwu), in order to prevent Japanese invasion, Zhu Yuanzhang sent Jiang Xiahou and Zhou Dexing to inspect the southeast coast. Zhou Dexing is an expert in military engineering. According to the characteristics of winding coastline and dangerous terrain in Quanzhou coastal area, "one county has one government, and those who connect counties have one health". At that time, Quanzhou set up Yongningwei, which governed Fuquan, Zhongzuo, Jinmen, Gaopu and Chongwu. There are five cities in Hui 'an, namely Chongwu City, Otter Cave City, Otaku City, Huang Qi City and Fengwei City. Chongwucheng is one of the five cities, belonging to thousands of households around Yongning, Fujian.
