Zhicheng College of Fuzhou University was approved by the Ministry of Education. In July 2003, it was a national "double-first-class" university, a national "2 1 1 project" key university, a university jointly established by the Fujian Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Education, and a university jointly established by the Fujian Provincial People's Government and the National Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, with Fuzhou University as the main body, operating according to the new mechanism and new mode, and implementing full-time undergraduate education.

At present, the college has 17 teaching units and 44 undergraduate majors, covering leading industries in economic and social development, strategic emerging industries and traditional industries, and has developed into an application-oriented comprehensive university with coordinated development of science, engineering, economics, management and art. The number of students in the school is close to 13000.
