Yuyao City belongs to Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province. Yuyao County was built in the Qin Dynasty, with a history of more than 2,200 years. 1985, with the approval of the State Council, Yuyao was removed from the county and set up a city. From 65438 to 0995, Yuyao was upgraded to a second-class city by the State Council.
Yuyao lies between east longitude 120 degrees and north latitude 12 1 degrees. Located in the south wing of the beautiful and rich Yangtze River Delta, it is adjacent to Jiangbei District and Yinzhou District of Ningbo City in the east, Siming Mountain in the south, Fenghua and Shengzhou in the west, Shangyu City in the west, Cixi City in the north and Haiyan County in the northwest. It is only half an hour and 40 minutes' drive from Ningbo International Airport and Ningbo Beilun Port, a large port, only 1 hour drive from Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, only 2.5 hours' drive from Shanghai via Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo Expressway and only 1 hour drive from Hangzhou Bay Bridge. Yuyao has been included in Shanghai's "two-hour traffic circle". Yaojiang is a section of the East Zhejiang Canal with convenient land and water transportation.
Yuyao has a long history and splendid culture, and is a famous historical and cultural city in Zhejiang Province. Hemudu site, regarded as a miracle by Chinese and foreign historians, has a history of more than 7000 years and is a representative site of matriarchal prosperity in the Yangtze River basin. Since the Qin Dynasty, many historical and cultural celebrities have emerged, such as Wang Yangming, a famous philosopher in the Ming Dynasty in the Eastern Han Dynasty, Huang Zongxi, a famous scholar in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, a messenger of cultural exchange between China and Japan, and Mr. Yu, a famous contemporary scholar. Yuyao therefore enjoys the reputation of "Yaojiang is the best in the world", "the first famous city in Southeast China" and "a famous literary country".
