By improving students' enthusiasm and learning efficiency in class, the burden of after-school counseling is reduced.
Second, both "looking forward" and "looking back"
For underachievers, the most important thing is to have a successful experience and build self-confidence. Therefore, in the usual teaching, I often reveal a little secret about the next study to students with learning difficulties, such as: there will be a sudden attack tomorrow-dictation, and there is a difficult problem to be solved in the next class. I ask these students to prepare consciously first and often call them to the office for pre-class counseling. In this way, they can easily keep up with the learning process, and with the opportunity to show, their enthusiasm for learning has also improved. After writing an article and finishing my homework, I will give after-school counseling according to the problems in my homework. For the guidance of good students, I usually give a topic once every two or three weeks, so that students can have a small-scale speech contest, debate or give a speech on stage.
Third, find students' problems in the "learning files"
In order to keep track, I set up a "study file" for three underachievers, mainly to record their mistakes in their homework. After a period of time, I sorted out and analyzed the causes of these mistakes, and then formulated counseling measures, forming a targeted "individual counseling plan."
Fourth, small steps, big surprises
I found that some students in my class have a weak Chinese foundation, so I designed some basic exercises. Sort out the knowledge points about words and phrases in this Chinese textbook, and write some exercises such as reading pinyin, writing words, matching words, choosing correct pronunciation and rewriting sentences. According to the teaching progress, give underachievers a piece of exercise paper every day, which should be completed within 15 minutes. This kind of small exercise has little content, does not need too much time, can be completed with hard work, is easy to stimulate students' psychology of trying actively, is convenient for feedback and correction, and is more suitable for them.
Five, individual counseling should choose the right time.
Foreign students who are late can't give individual counseling in the office, because parents can't pick up their children from school, which will lead to different opinions of parents, and there may be security risks when they are late for school. For the choice of the right time, I think we can make good use of our lunch break. Because students usually do their own homework or rest during this time, there will be no conflict with other time periods. You can also make full use of the homework time in class. Generally speaking, there will always be a time when students can finish their homework independently in class. At this time, it is timely and effective to give students different hierarchical counseling.
In fact, as we all know, individual counseling is time-consuming, so I often use the resources of gifted students in my class to get them to join the counseling ranks. Attitudes are different for these children and their parents. Some children and parents don't care, while others are very opposed. The reasons for the opposition are: (1) It is not easy to maintain excellent grades in junior high school, and it is also a waste of time to help other students; Junior high school is a critical period for children's growth and development. It is very important for children to make friends with whom, so some parents think that being with underachievers will lead to children becoming bad. Tutoring students is the teacher's job, so that students are suspected of being lazy. These opposing views are not unreasonable, so what can I do better in the face of these opposing voices?
After a period of thinking, I feel that I lack skills in using the individual counseling strategy of "student mutual assistance". There are many details to consider when using student resources. For example, when arranging a four-person study group, we should pay attention to heterogeneous compatibility and leave some time for them to form a consensus through communication, so that individual counseling can be basically completed, thus taking up less extra time for students. In addition, parents should be aware of the progress made by students in the process of learning from each other. For example, by explaining the problem-solving ideas, improve children's oral expression ability; Children are bolder and more confident; The relationship between classmates has improved; Learned to empathize and so on. Only in this way can we gradually get the support of our parents, so as to achieve a win-win effect.
