The great Bacon actually talked about "the heart of reading". In fact, he pointed out people's reading mentality in On Reading:
First, reading is only for pleasure, second, reading is a blessing and third, reading is a long-term talent.
The functions of these three mind-reading techniques are also very meaningful: "Their pleasure is also most seen when they are alone and quiet; Its welfare lottery is also the most common talk; Its talents are also more common in world judgments. "
In fact, Bacon explained all the functions of reading. Reading actually has only two functions: one is useful and the other is useless.
Regrettably, at present, most scholars, especially most teachers, have not actually brought useless things into their own vision. In this way, the heart of reading is utilitarian and impetuous.
Utilitarianism and impetuousness are actually the greatest simplicity and blasphemy to books and authors. Many books are really useless, but they must exist in our spiritual world. Just like The Analects of Confucius, Mencius, Complete Works of Lu Xun and Confessions, many of us have read them. However, few of them are still standing on our desks, and even fewer people touch these rich spiritual relics with their eyes and hearts every day.
In a scholar, a necessary way of worship and piety is the best mentality when reading.
There is another mentality about reading. I wrote an article before: reading is an adventure. Reading is an adventure. I said, "Adventure is not in books, but in reading."
In this article, I think a scholar, born in today's fast-paced era, is getting older and time is getting shorter, but he has a lot to do. The voluminous books are daunting, so what about reading them? If we really want to read it, I'm afraid it's really an adventure-we have to spend some time in life for this book. But we don't know whether this book is a must or worth reading. If you don't read yourself, you will be shallow, and if you read yourself, you will be knowledgeable. Although we know that it is beneficial to open books, we also know that some books are best not to be read. This is the risk before reading. There are two possibilities: accepting or not accepting the dialogue between the author and himself.
The importance of reading is obvious here.
The highest state of mind-reading is: empty yourself like a bowl of water, then accept the author completely with piety and worship, and put the author at the highest and sharpest top of your inner world.
However, the establishment of this mentality now seems extremely difficult. Now, it is an era when faith disappears and idols collapse, an era of doubt, and an era when celebrities and famous artists can be neighbors. In this way, people dare to question and criticize the author of any book. "Doubting everything" has become the principle of many people. As we all know, the highest state of reading is love at first sight and unreserved love for books.
In fact, when it comes to reading methods, we believe that love at first sight, without reservation, can evolve into the most wonderful and effective reading method.
I have read Critical Consciousness, an important work of the Geneva School. This is an important work of the Geneva School in the form of "panorama and declaration". I'm interested in George? Bly's book is love at first sight. So my investment in the reading process is also huge. It is because of this investment that I suddenly found that in this book that deeply touched my heart, important keywords about reading, such as identification, reunion, choice and proximity, constitute a human landscape that makes people linger. And the shire mentioned in the book? Dubois, he scared me. He once said such a wise saying: "Man is indeed a place, just a place where the spiritual flow passes through."
Make yourself a place, empty yourself into a huge square, and then let the spiritual flow in the book pass through it. I think this is the best reading mentality.
You can't be the best reader if you doubt everything.
Some people may say: Mencius said that it is better to believe in books than to have no books. However, Mencius said, where is the mentality about reading? Mencius just advised the world to study hard and draw inferences from others.
Don't like reading; Or, deliberately cross-examine the author. With this reading mentality, the effect of reading can be imagined.
Of course, it is much easier to publish books now, and many people around me have published books. What kind of mentality should we hold about their books?
I am still the same sentence: love at first sight, without reservation.
Of course, you can make another choice: I only read masters and refuse mediocre people.
In fact, if you choose to read the works of your peers, you will also gain a lot. The premise is: first of all, love at first sight, without reservation. Secondly, accept it critically and discard it selectively. Love at first sight, without reservation, is to "enter", and criticism and sublation are to "leave".
